BIPOC Educator Partial Scholarships

Bring HypnoBirthing to Your Community

If you identify as a BIPOC individual, you may be eligible for a partial scholarship to become a Certified HypnoBirthing® Educator.

At the HypnoBirthing® Institute, we hope to help reduce the grossly high maternal mortality rates among BIPOC populations by making training more accessible, creating more childbirth educators who can bring their knowledge and education to their communities and provide culturally-matched care.

Important advice: HypnoBirthing has become a household name, and there are several ‘copy’ programs that have popped up in the U.S. and other parts of the world claiming to the be the official.

2007-2019 national data on pregnancy-related mortality:

17.0

pregnancy-related deaths per 100,000 in 2016 compared to 15.0 per 100,00 in 2007.

40.8

pregnancy-related deaths per 100,000 among black women in 2016.

29.7

pregnancy-related deaths among American Indian/Alaska Native women in 2016.

4-5x

higher pregnancy-related mortality rate for black and indigenous women over 30 than white women.

5x

greater pregnancy-related mortality rate for black women with at least a college degree compared to their white counterparts.

The bottom line is that black, indigenous, people of color are dying from pregnancy-related causes at rates significantly higher than white women. The color of a person’s skin should not automatically make giving birth more dangerous, but it does. Education on culturally competent care and increased access to culturally matched care are a couple of the ways in which we can work on closing that gap.
